Are all internships guaranteed to be paid?
Stage-Australia mainly arranges paid internships. In case the internship period is shorter than 4 months, you can expect it to be an unpaid internship.The average payment for an internship is 450 AUD. The payment for a graduation assignment is comparable to an internship. As a traineeship can go up to a duration of 2 years, trainees are mainly paid 800 -1200 AUD per month.
When should I sign up for the program?
We recommend you to start with the process 4-6 months before you would like to start your internship. The duration of the whole process is also influenced by your own initiative and your own wishes. You are able to sign in 1 month before the start of your internship, but there will be additional fees for last minute inquiries.
Am I allowed to travel after the completion of my internship/traineeship?
If you decide to do your internship in Australia, it is possible to travel before and after the internship period. The duration of your travel depends on which visa you applied for. If you applied for a Work & Holiday visa, you can stay in Australia for up to 12 months, meaning you would be able to travel for a period of 6 months. If you applied for an Occupational Trainee Visa, you can travel as well, but then only for a period of 2 months after completion of your internship. The best option would be to include the duration of your travel in the internship/traineeship contract.
How long does it take to find an internship for me?
In most cases, it can go really fast. As soon as you fill in the application form, we will plan an intake interview with you. The next step would be paying the deposit and the collection of your application documents. Then Stage- Australia will start looking for a perfect placement for you. You can consider it to take 2 months to find you a suitable internship. If you need a last-minute placement, you can also contact us and we will check your options.
Is there a minimum/maximum age for applying?
Yes, the age limitations are linked to the visa options for Australia. If you have applied for a Work & Holiday visa, you have to be between 18-30 years old. In case you travel with an Occupational Trainee visa, you have to be 18 or older. Stage-Australia is happy to help you with finding the right visa.
I already found a placement, can Stage-Australia also help me with additional services?
Yes, if you have already found a placement, Stage-Australia can still arrange the visa for you and provide you with all the information needed for a longer travel to Australia.
Will Stage-Australia also arrange my housing?
Yes, Stage-Australia helps you with finding suitable housing. You will get assistance but the actual signing for the housing contract is your responsbility. Stage-Australia also has student houses in some of the Australian cities.
How much money would I have to pay for an internship in Australia?
The starting costs for a paid internship is €950 Placement service, €445 Work & Holiday Visa, €1000-1600 Flight. The average living expenses in Australia are around 1100 AUD per month. In some cases the company provides housing.
Can you guarantee that you will find a suitable company for me?
Stage-Australia will do everything to find a suitable internship/traineeship placement for you. Unfortunataly, we cannot give a guarantee. In case we could not find a placement for you 5 weeks before you leave, you will receive €125,- of your deposit back from us. Check out the Terms & Conditions for more information.
Can I apply for a placement from your list of vacancies?
Yes you can, however this list contains only a selection out of our large portfolio. We will have an intake interview with you in order to perfectly match you to one of our available positions.
Can I choose the location of my placement?
Yes, you can name a preferred location for your placement during the intake interview with us. Additional fees will apply.
Can I visit you in person and talk about my options?
We will have contact via Skype which allows you to get to know us, but we also do offer the option of having intake interviews at our office.
What sort of tasks and responsibilities can I expect from an internship/ traineeship? And what is the difference?
Traineeships have a higher level of responsibility and are generally longer, they range from 6 to 18 months. Additionally, trainees tend to earn more than interns. Internships are generally between 3 and 6 months, the maximum being of 12 months, interns have less responsibility and a lower salary. However, the education process for both categories is more or less the same. Traineeship and internship programs are available for 2 months or more.
Do I also need a bank account in Australia?
Yes, as your salary will need to be paid into an Australian bank account. This is something you will have to take care of after your arrival in Australia.
Do you offer language courses?

Is an English test obligatory?
No. However, we may do an English interview with you to test your level of English before we start the placement process.
Is it possible for my supervisor from school to be in contact with the placement company?
We prefer to lead the contact with the host company to be Stage-Australia, but your supervisor can contact us any time.
Which advantage is there for being placed by Stage-Australia over finding my own placement?
The first advantage is that we take care of the whole placement process and support you every step of the way. We offer guidance and advice regarding interviews, preparing documents, finding a placement which suits you, your consulate appointment, and also with finding housing and booking flights. We are also available to answer questions and support you via our 24 hour help desk throughout the placement process and for the duration of your internship. The companies we offer placements at are checked by us to make sure that the positions they offer are suitable and of high quality. Another key advantage is that your chances of gaining a paid placement are much higher if you use our service.
